Great Sankey High School has a long history of working with LiveWire, providing first class sporting facilities through a dual use arrangement for school students, to support sporting achievement and the development of healthy lifestyles.

The School has a history of sporting excellence and are proud to have been a part of their success. Sporting heroes and past students at the school include Ben Evans, Rhys Evans and Gareth O'Brien (Warrington Wolves players) and Kathleen Dawson (Swimmer for Scotland). A number of current Academy players, in both Rugby and Football, play for teams including Warrington Wolves, St Helens, Salford and Stoke FC.

A rich extra-curricular programme also offers a wide variety of cultural opportunities for students to take part in. Sport, music, drama and art all feature daily, enhancing a strong tradition of artistic excellence in Music, Drama and Art with students regularly participating in whole school productions, music showcases and art workshops. The school's sixth form Barrow Hall College has long been committed to enriching the experience of the students through an Enrichment Programme:
